New Scoreboard Installed at York’s LNER Community Stadium
York Stadium Management Company is delighted to unveil the LNER Community Stadium’s newly installed scoreboard, funded collaboratively between York SMC and parent company GLL.
Measuring an impressive 8m x 4.5m, the digiLED scoreboard further upgrades and moves forward with the technology on offer inside the venue, enhancing experiences for fans, clubs and event organisers alike.
Peter Bundey, Chief Executive Officer of GLL said: “We are delighted with the significant progress being made behind the scenes at the LNER Community Stadium since our acquisition of York Stadium Management Company in September 2023.
“The scoreboard project was one we committed to from the outset of our ownership, helping our aspirations to showcase the stadium as the UK’s leading community stadium.
“The opportunity to put this in place and thereby creating the opportunity for the licensed clubs to drive additional sponsorship income was an extremely important factor for us in evaluating the initial funding proposition.”
After frustrating delays towards the end of 2024 regarding steelworks, compounded by recent adverse weather conditions, the new, high-quality screen located in the North West corner of the stadium, is set to make its debut on Sunday, March 23rd when England’s Red Roses take on Italy in Guinness Women’s Six Nations action.
Plans to move the existing scoreboard (located on the West Stand) into position to enhance visibility for spectators throughout the stadium bowl are currently being finalised.
